Term 2 | Week 2

Principal’s Report

Dear Parents,

We welcome back all of our families to Term 2. I hope everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing break over the Easter period.

Today we had a large contingent of students travel across to Griffith for the Diocesan Cross Country. We wish all of these students well and hope they had a great day competing. We have heard some rumours that some of our students have qualified for the MacKiIIop Cross Country in Sydney however we are still waiting for official results. More information will follow later in the week.

This Friday we will be running our annual school athletics carnival here in Coolamon at the Central School Athletics oval. Please ensure that you have completed all permission forms for this event. We welcome all families to join us on the day and if you are able to volunteer to help with a job such as timekeeping or running a field event that would be fantastic and very much appreciated.

Tomorrow our Stage 2 and Stage 3 girls will be participating in the Schools Cup Netball Carnival in Wagga. We wish all our students every success at this carnival and hope they have a really enjoyable day.

We will be holding our Easter Mass tomorrow also here at school at 12.15pm. All families are very welcome to come along to this school Mass and we look forward to seeing as many as can make here at the St Michael’s church tomorrow.

The annual Coolamon Catholic Deb Ball will be held on Friday 12/5/23 at the St Michael’s Hall. Many thanks go to our P&F who are once again undertaking the clean up of the hall as a fundraising activity to help raise money to purchase resources for the school. This year there will be a pre-Ball cleanup to be held this Saturday 6th May starting at 8.30-9.00 and a post-Ball clean up to be held on Saturday 13th May also.

Well done to our Student Council in running an Easter Raffle last term. A total of $422 was raised to go toward the Student Council initiatives this year.

Thank you to the parents who assisted with the P&F Raffle on Easter Saturday. $363 was raised for the school.

Thank you to all who came and marched with our school on ANZAC Day last week. I have had lots of positive feedback from community members on the way our students turned up in large numbers and conducted themselves on the day.

An Athlete’s Prayer

God, let me play well, but fairly.

Help me to learn something that matters once the game is over.

Let competition make me strong, but never hostile.

Always let me help my opponent up.

Never catch me rejoicing in the adversity of others.

If I know victory, allow me to be happy.

If I am denied, keep me from envy.

Remind me that sports are just games.

If through athletics I set an example, let it be a good one.

Amen.
